Win a copy of Exhibit A on DVD!

51fpX2gd36L._SS500_Christmas is a time for family. But Christmas Day is over now and I bet you’re sick of them already. Just be thankful that your life will never end up like the family in Exhibit A. Though you may recognise how close you could become…

Exhibit A tells the story of a normal family disintegrating under financial pressure. The head of the household attempts to keep their rapidly developing problems under wraps but soon finds that the pressure exerted begins to take it’s toll which soon cause terrible events for this normal, suburban household. We witness the terrifying events unfold through daughter Judith’s video camera, which subsequently becomes Exhibit A in a terrible crime.

Whilst this is one of the scariest films in years, it’s far from a nasty (though there are moment that are extremely uncomfortable) and salacious horror flick. It’s the scarily real depiction of the lengths that people will go to ‘when the wheels fall off’ and they feel their place in society and their family had been lost. The use of the video camera gives everything a chillingly authentic edge whilst the acting from the entire cast is absolutely superb. It’s this closeness to reality that makes the film so engrossing yet so disturbing at the same time. This is by no means easy viewing, but those who believe in powerful and inventive filmmaking (and who want to support films made in Yorkshire, as the film was shot in Leeds) should really make an effort to check the film out.

  1. The Full Monty – I real favourite of mine, and are far as I am concerned this depicts the real Yorkshire

  2. My favourite is Little Voice filmed in Scarborough. An emotional film with some great performances in a very suitable location.

  3. Not a film, but would be nice if it was – Last of the Summer Wine.

However, film wise – Calendar Girls

  4. The Full Monty for me – sums up all whats great about the British Film Industry, and what a location. If the countries financial situation don’t improve in 2010, Alastair Darling might even have to emulate them to add to the coffers.

  5. BRASSED OFF because it was filmed in towns close ot sheffield and i lived there for a while, excellent film too.

  6. I have to confess, although I loved the Harry Potter films (though the books ARE better) my favorite film filmed in Yorkshire is Wuthering Heights. My other half can’t sit with me and wath it because he thinks I’m pathetic when I cry at the end *blush* 🙂

  7. Has to be Full Monty. It truly does show the iconic structures and deprevation and dereliction of a once great city that is now starting to re-establish itself

  8. All Creatures Great & Small in the mid 70’s cos my Hubby was in it….the cute little boy with the cockatiel at the pet show who itches his nose(that wasnt in the script by the way, he just got a tickle haha)…he hasn’t changed a bit, unfortunately he didnt become a world wide superstar 🙁
